Rodrigo Recabarren Bio

Born in Santiago de Chile, Rodrigo Recabarren studied music at the PUC in Chile (BA) and NYU (M.M.), in the US. In 2009 Rodrigo started his career in the United States. where he has worked with artists such as: Guillermo Klein, Brad Shepik, Melissa Aldana, Camila Meza, Rafal Sarnecki, Andre Carvallo, Rotem Sivan and Jeff Miles among many others.

Rodrigo has performed in Europe, the United States, Asia and Latin-America in prestigious venues like the Blue Note, Smalls and Jazz at Lincoln Center, among many others in New York City, as well as festivals and venues in countries worldwide like Japan, Denmark, Germany, Spain, Argentina, Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Latvia and all over the United states, just to name a few.

As a band leader, Rodrigo brings to life many projects that have toured the world. A few of them are “Mural”(www.muralmusic.com), “Beekman”(www.beekmanmusic.com), “Peregrinos”(www.peregrinosmusic.com) and “Novas trio” (www.novastrio.com).

Rodrigo endorses Vic Firth Sticks, Zildjian Cymbals, and Overtone Labs.

In 2012 filmmaker Eduardo Pavez Goye filmed a documentary around Rodrigo in New York called “El Parque de los prospectos” (http://vimeo.com/58739158), this documentary was selected and screened in the official selection of the 2012 version of the “In-Edit” Film Festival in Chile.

In 2004 Rodrigo founded the Tresillo music School in Santiago de Chile. With more than 100 students and 10 teachers, Tresillo is an important part of the music education scene in Santiago.
